Probably the very old black and white movie "Casablanca". So many modern writers and producers should learn from that one.
There are so many good English language books I just cannot choose. I am sorry - but if we talk you will find out my favourite of the day.
Thai - of course - and English, Italian and Chinese.
Jazz, Rock, Country&Western ... not forgetting Morlam and classic Thai 'Pin and Kaen' music.
I like to dress smartly - but like anyone else I enjoy relaxing in jeans or shorts. I would never go out looking like the usual backpacker farang though!
Humour? WHAT IS THAT??? It's crazy really! 'farang ba mai?' Just like the Isaans sense of humour I suppose - I enjoy the comedians who share the stage at an Isaans music show. I may not understand all the words BUT I do understand the humour.
I enjoy travelling and learning about cultures different from my own. I like to absorb the best of other cultures into my way of life. The Buddhist calmness is one thing which has impressed me and by trying to match the peace of the Buddhists that I have - and still - know my life is more contented.
Most of Europe and Turkey. Malaysia (and Sarawak), Singapore, Thailand, China and Hong Kong - not forgetting Laos and Kampucha I want to visit Kampucha and see Ankor Wat - I have only seen the model in the Grand palace in BKK.
We can all learn from other cultures as I said earlier. I have no problems with people from other ethnic groups. Whichever God you follow He/She created only one race ..... the Human Race, so I follow that belief.
In a good hotel in a beautiful location. Near a beach would be nice, but I think that a hillside hotel with wonderful mountain and forest views would be more romantic. To be pampered by the best hotel staff would help too. However the most important part of a romatic weekend is being close to a special special lady. To be with a special lady and sail Krathong down the river while we cuddled on the river bank would be wonderful too.
I am happy and easy going - but cannot accept poor service when I am buying something. Neither can I accept a "butterfly" woman who looks for many men when she has me! I am loyal to those who are loyal to me, I still keep in touch with friends from 40 years ago.
A woman who could understand my needs - bringing me 'char lon' as soon as I began to feel thirsty. Who would understand when I wanted to be alone, and when I needed to be one with her. Words need not be spoken. One trait that I may never find in a Thai lady is to accept that her man may want to do things for himself and for her. To cook, to help with cleaning etc.
