While on appointment in Central Asia for the U.S. Department of State as a CIES Fulbright Specialist, Doc was selected to be Interim Vice President of Academic Affairs at the Kazakhstan Institute of Management, Economics, and Strategic Research University (2011-2012). From 2004 to 2010, Doc was the Graduate Director at the University of Louisiana, where he mentored numerous graduate students into top Ph.D. programs. In 2006, he was a Junior State of America (JSA) Professor of Communication at Yale University. He was also a McGee Fellow at The University of Iowa (1998). During Spring and Summer 1997, he was appointed a Visiting Scholar at St. Benet’s Hall at Oxford University, where he studied Common Law in free speech theory. As well, he was a Debate Coach at The Florida State University from 1990 to 1993, and a champion Debater at the University of Florida from 1988 to 1990.

I think I am perhaps a bit too picky as I have met several very nice women here but have not yet found the one for me. I have children so I can't just drop everything and travel off half a world away to meet on a whim any longer. I also tend to be careful as I would not wish to introduce anyone to my children before the time is right. They get attached to easily and hurt easily as well. I have no wish to have you removing your clothing right away either. I want to know the person inside your head before We even think about your obvious charms. There is a time and a place for that perhaps but it is certainly not before you have an opportunity to know one another somewhat. I have been a member and cancelled that membership a couple of times now and I have come to believe that it is going to be nearly impossible to meet a person where we are right for one another. I have met a few very nice people, just not a person that I feel is right for the rest of my life. I feel that there is no possible way to jump right into a love relationship, all should start with a great friendship. If you do not have that, there can be no future for the two of you together. I am not a particularly handsome man, those days are long behind me at this point, not an ogre either, very much average. I know that before we could declare any kind of a lasting future that we would need to meet in person. Sitting down and speaking face to face will give a very different perspective than writing letters or even speaking on camera. I may be far to picky I guess, however at this point in my life I would rather not be with someone that is a struggle to spend time with, I feel that two people should challenge each other mentally, spiritually and physically without trying to cause each other mental anguish and pain. I also have very specific ideas about how I want tmy children to grow up, what types of things I would like them to learn and that makes it more difficult to find someone perhaps also. With all that said, I do feel that life is better when shared with the person that is right for you, so I look for that person.
