I don't look for adventure, sometimes it just finds me. Like when I was hiking on top of a waterfall at the Sequoia National Park in California and I saw this glimmer. I climbed higher to take a closer look and I realized it was nothing. I headed back down and I thought I'd peer over down the side of a cliff to see if I could jump down. That was a bad idea. Suddenly I felt the loose soil give way underneath me and I started sliding down. I tried grabbing on to some kind of small plant to slow my descent but it pulled right out of the ground and I took a landslide ride off the cliff leaving a cloud of dust in my wake. As I fell I hit my head on a rock and blacked out for a few seconds but luckily I came to and managed to land in a crouched position as I felt the adrenaline pump through my system. I tried to stand and walk but the sharp pain coming from my right ankle prevented me from managing anything but a pathetic limp. Later, what I thought was a sprained ankle turned out to be a fractured ankle and I was in a cast for a good few months. Looking back I can't say that "adventure" was worth it but if you look at it from one perspective: I took a ride on one of nature's slides, fell twenty feet and survived. Who knows, I might just be the only person in history to have had that happen to them at that particular spot. Guess I'm a lucky guy.
