I hit the gym at least three mornings a week and train Jiu Jitsu four or more times — my knees and elbows remind me regularly that I’m 54, but I’m not ready to listen. Staying active keeps me grounded and clears my head, and I’d rather be sore than sedentary. Happy hour still has a place in my life, just not the starring role it once did. I have two kids — a 16-year-old daughter and a 23-year-old son, both living with me full time. They’re self-reliant, good humans, and they make my life easy more often than not. I’m proud of that. I’m old enough to know my imperfections and secure enough not to hide them. I’m also genuinely ok on my own — which I think means I’m looking for the right person, not just someone.
